What: The Ontario Library Association Super Conference is an annual event that brings together librarians and information professionals from Ontario and across North America. It is notably the largest conference of its kind in Canada, featuring exceptional speakers and presenters, an expansive library trade show, networking events and more.
Where: Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario
When: Wednesday, February 24- Saturday, February 27, 2010
Why: This is a great opportunity to meet others in the field of librarianship, experience a vendor expo and get turned on to new ideas.
Last year, I attended a fantastic session led by Kate Gronemyer & Anne-Marie Deitering entitled Peer Review 2.0: Tormorrow’s scholarship for today’s students. Here I learned a great deal about how social software isĀ shaping new models of scholarly communication and its impact on information literacy instruction. This motivated me to write a paper on this topic for a course on social software that I was taking at the time. Furthermore, it prompted me to begin exploring how open access resources can further help librarians educate and inform students about online resources and their uses and limitations; hopefully, I will have something ready to publish and/or present on about this topic in the very near future.
So, go to the Super Conference because you too will very likely be inspired!
